Learning 7-12 » Beyond the Classroom » Music

Music is an integral part of life at Central Coast Grammar School. We have an outstanding team of accomplished private tutors whose aim is to raise musicians to a high level of skill. Individual needs, interests and abilities are catered for, from the enthusiastic beginner to the highly accomplished academic.

Music as an elective subject

The musical progress of students in Years 7- 8 is carefully nurtured resulting in high levels of interest in Music as an elective subject in the Year 9 cohort. Gifted young musicians eagerly progress through to the Senior College to pursue their Music studies at the highest level with the opportunity to study HSC Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension. An individualised approach to programming, incorporating performance opportunities, master classes and repertoire development with leading professionals, has helped to ensure Music at CCGS has maintained an impressive academic record.

Performance opportunities

Ensembles accommodate students on all instruments at all levels. Opportunities abound for individual performers as well as choirs, orchestras, bands and chamber groups to perform at school and community events. In addition, there are touring opportunities both within Australia and internationally as well as the chance to compete in eisteddfods and music competitions.

Every year CCGS awards a Music Scholarship designed to provide a talented student with the opportunity to pursue their music studies at the highest level and experience performing in a broad range of ensembles. Head to Scholarships to find out more.
