At Central Coast Grammar School an active, healthy, balanced lifestyle is high on the agenda. Our Personal Development/Health/Physical Education program forms part of the curriculum and is delivered by specialist PDHPE teachers.

The emphasis in the Junior School’s PD/Health/PE program is on participation in a broad range of experiences and challenges targeting different age levels. All Junior School children enjoy a weekly Health lesson and a weekly PE lesson. The PD/Health/PE program is aimed at developing:

  • Sporting skills (such as coordination and ball skills),
  • Fitness
  • Camaraderie
  • Teamwork
  • An understanding about healthy lifestyle choices (nutrition and diet), and
  • School spirit

K-2 students come together for a combined Sport session each week and rotate through a series of different activities during their lesson. Students learn sporting skills as well as developing coordination and aerobic fitness.

Years 3-6 have an extended Sport session every Friday afternoon, during school time. Each student has the opportunity to experience 2 sports codes per term, usually involving professional coaches, with our teachers as support. By the end of the year students will have participated in eight different physical activities that include:

  • Dance
  • Golf
  • Gymnastics
  • Hockey
  • Ice-skating
  • Martial Arts
  • Netball
  • Rock Climbing
