Habits of Mind for successful learners
A key part of our core teaching and learning practices is developing learning dispositions, or ways of thinking that lay the foundations for successful learning – not just the attainment knowledge. We call this the Habits of Mind and develop learning capacity in 3 key areas:
- Academic Curriculum (learning about developing flexibility in thinking, questioning, problem solving and risk taking)
- Emotional Intelligence (learning about how to work tough, be tolerant of others and adopt an ‘I can do it!’ attitude)
- Behavioural Intelligence (learning about external controls such as rules and expectations)
‘You Can Do It’ program
Introduced in 2010, the 'You Can Do It' program identifies and develops the social and emotional capabilities that all young people need to acquire in order to be successful in school, experience wellbeing and have positive relationships that include making contributions to others and the community.
Technology is seamlessly integrated into the lessons and work of our students. To support the high level of technology at CCGS, there is a strong focus on the application of Information and Communication Technology in the Professional Development program in place for our teachers. We have highly skilled support teachers to assist teachers in developing teaching strategies to use technology in the classroom. In addition, we have a dedicated team of technicians and other support staff to ensure the equipment is always in good working order.
