Music

Junior School students at Central Coast Grammar School can pursue their creative sides through our vibrant cocurricular music program that caters for all abilities from the beginner to the accomplished young musician.

A large number of our Junior School students connect with music beyond the curriculum by learning an instrument, singing, composing or joining one of our many Junior School ensembles. While further developing their musical talents they can also experience the joy of performing for family and the community.

Private Music Tuition

Private music tuition is available within school hours. Junior School students can choose to learn the piano and brass, wind and string instruments. One lesson per school week is scheduled with tuition fees billed to the school account.

Any student who has learnt an instrument over 6 months is encouraged to join one of many Junior ensembles while any child who enjoys singing may join the Infants or Junior Choirs. Practice rehearsals occur once a week before or after school. Times are set at the beginning of each term.

Performance

All Junior School musicians have the opportunity to perform individually or as a member of a Junior ensemble at assemblies, year group concerts and on special occasions such as Grandparents’ Day or at the Spring Fair.

All ensembles showcase their talents for parents and friends at our Summer and Winter Music Concerts. The concerts provide an opportunity to present new arrangements and to highlight the confidence gained from stage performance.
