Performing Arts
Teaching children how to become articulate, confident speakers plays an important role in a child’s overall development. Central Coast Grammar School provides Junior School students with opportunities for role play and performance throughout the year in addition to programs in Debating, Public Speaking and Drama.

Children in the Junior School quickly progress from standing in front of their class for ‘show and tell’ to presenting a short play or a musical item to their peers at our weekly assemblies. There are also many opportunities to present to a wider audience at a variety of special events.
Debating and Public Speaking
In Kindergarten, students are introduced to the concepts of Debating and Public Speaking through our House competitions. Years 5 and 6 students can further develop their talents through the Debating Club and, if successful, go on to represent CCGS in inter-school, local and state-wide competitions:
- CCGS Inter House Debating and Public Speaking Competitions
- HICES Debating Competition
- IPSHAA Debating Gala Day

Drama Lessons for Years 1 & 2
Weekly Drama lessons work on developing clear articulation, voice projection and eye contact in a fun and safe environment. Stories are a springboard for characterisation and performance. Along their creative journey students improve their comprehension, vocabulary and fluency of reading and learn an array of entertaining poems and the fundamentals of improvisation. One lesson per school week is scheduled with tuition fees billed to the school account.
