Join Junior School in Y3
Lots of children start together in Year 3 to take advantage of the abundance of opportunities that become available both inside and outside the classroom at this level.
Hear from parents who moved their children to CCGS in Year 3 and see how it has worked out for them. See how our teachers engage this dynamic age group in learning.
Why change schools in Year 3?
-
Ready for more
More specialist attention, more opportunities beyond the classroom, more academic challenge and more personal support to help your child achieve their potential. Your child might have sailed through the lessons learned in the early years but perhaps they could benefit from the stimulation offered by a truly holistic education in preparation for senior school.
-
Make new friends
Year 3 is a main intake year at CCGS so your child will share the excitement of their first day at a new school with other boys and girls in exactly the same situation. Our orientation program ensures a smooth transition. Your child will be nurtured by caring teachers experienced in welcoming new children to Year 3 and helping them settle in. Parents are sure to make new friends too. Social events for parents and families organised by the Year 3 Parent Representatives offer informal occasions to meet other parents.
-
More specialist attention
Your child's main class teacher guides them securely through the core curriculum, including key literacy and numeracy skills. Specialist teachers fire their imagination, spirt and intellect by delivering stimulating programs in Art, Languages, Music and PDHPE. The Learning Support team intervenes to offer extension and support when and where they need it. Our K-6 Wellbeing Coordinator addresses the emotional and social needs of Junior School students. Your child's school diary keeps you in touch with teachers on a daily basis and you can make an appointment to see them at any time.
-
Exciting opportunities beyond the classroom
Our fabulous facilities and diverse cocurricular programs offer your child a wide range of opportunities in Sport, Music and Performing Arts that may not be available at your current school, including annual Outdoor Education camps from Year 3 onwards.
-
Maximised academic potential
You can view the percentage of Year 3 CCGS students achieving Band 5 or 6 in Naplan tests (compared to State school students) in our Headmaster's Report. Looking further ahead, details of our consistently outstanding HSC results can be found in the same publication.
