Boys and girls can experience the joy and discipline of dance at all levels, whether they’re expert dancers, or just want to try it for fun.
Dance is a course choice in the curriculum for Years 9 to 12, including HSC.
In addition, cocurricular groups start in Year 2 covering all styles, interests and abilities. There are jazz and contemporary groups as well as an auditioned advanced group allowing students to showcase their specialist talents.
Groups train before and after school and representative groups compete very successfully in local and Sydney Eisteddfods. Elite dancers take up the challenge to captain, lead a piece, choreograph or mentor a junior group.
Performance opportunities include the Independent Schools’ Dance Festival (junior and senior), Elective Dance Performance night as well as numerous other competitions both locally and in Sydney. There are also opportunities to take part in specialist workshops with professional artists and be involved in annual junior and senior school musical productions and school events like assemblies, Spring Fair, Grandparents' Day and Presentation Night.
In 2023, the CCGS Dance team competed in the DanceLife Unite Central Coast Division and achieved some incredible wins with 1st place in High School Contemporary (Dust Bowl Dance), 2nd place in High School Contemporary (Burning Spear), and 2nd place High School Jazz (Let me think about it)!
We host community dance events in our 750 seat Performing Arts Centre that includes a new state of the art dedicated 110 square metre dance studio.
