Learning beyond borders

• Reciprocal Exchange Program

  Our Year 10 Reciprocal Exchange Program is one of the most distinctive opportunities at School, with exchange opportunities in Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, USA, and our newest addition, China.

  Students live with a partner family overseas, attend school abroad, and welcome their exchange partner back into their own home and School community. This year-long program builds:

  • Greater independence and confidence in navigating unfamiliar places, situations and responsibilities
  • Resilience and problem-solving skills developed by responding to challenges beyond the familiar
  • A broader understanding of cultures and communities through meaningful interactions with people from different backgrounds
  • Greater adaptability and confidence as learners, experiencing different approaches to education, subjects and perspectives
  • Lifelong friendships and connections built through shared experiences, often extending well beyond the Program

  In 2026, 28 students participated in the Program, with one student embarking on a brand-new exchange to Beijing Jingyuan High School in China.

  Through these exciting Exchange Programs, we provide our students with genuinely transformative experiences, as unlike commercial tours, our exchange is grounded in a network of decade-long, authentic relationships nurtured by our Coordinator of International Programs.

• Round Square

  Our School is proud to be a Round Square Candidate School, embarking on a formal pathway to join a global network dedicated to developing well-rounded, globally-minded young people.

  Aligned to the School’s philosophy of preparing students who live and learn with good character and practical wisdom, we believe in the power of experiential learning to help shape and build student capacity, so that they may make a positive difference in the world as globally-minded, courageous and compassionate leaders.

  We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with and be inspired by other Round Square institutions, and identify new ways to build the good character of our students, so that they may realise their full potential.

  This partnership strengthens our commitment to learning through action and experience, inspiring students to engage with the world through leadership, service, challenge and international understanding.

  Our School believes that students learn character and wisdom through practical experience, and the Round Square IDEALS offer the opportunity to connect theoretical understanding with real-world practice.

  We seek to cultivate students who are responsible members of our local and global community, and through the pursuit of the IDEALS, we believe the Round Square program will support our students to enrich their communication skills and foster new perspectives.

  From online Study Labs that allow our students to become part of lively discussions with colleagues from around the world, to promoting sustainability, marine conservation and student action at a World Ocean Day event, we are embracing the many available opportunities to strengthen our students’ citizenship, collaboration and kindness.

  In celebration of Round Square’s 60^th anniversary in 2026, our students have also performed ‘60 Acts of Kindness’ – checking in on their friends, visiting local nursing homes, and assisting their teachers in class.

• Cambodia Service Program

  In Year 11, students can participate in a journey of awareness, fundraising and action. Students raise funds to build houses with Volunteer Building Cambodia, before travelling to remote villages to construct them alongside local families.

  This program teaches gratitude, compassion and global responsibility, and builds strong ties: for more than a decade, students and teachers from Sunrise Cambodia have also travelled to Australia to study at our School and live with our families, making this a truly two-way relationship.

  The Cambodia Service Program is a hallmark of our global citizenship ethos, empowering Year 11 students to step outside their comfort zones, serve others in tangible ways, and return home with skills and perspectives that shape their lives beyond school.

• Our International Tours

  Students can enjoy a wide range of international tours connected to sport, performing arts, outdoor education, science and cultural studies.

  Recent destinations include France, Japan, China, Hawaii, Singapore, England, New Zealand and the USA.

  Highlights include:

  • Sporting Tours: Rugby, hockey, basketball and netball teams compete internationally, then host visiting teams, building global friendships.
  • Performing Arts Tours: Students travel to the UK for dance and musical theatre workshops at world-renowned studios, enriching the creative culture of our School.
  • Science and Outdoor Education Tours: Students undertake experiences that bring learning to life in new and exciting settings.
