International Programs
International experiences open students’ eyes to the world, helping them grow as confident, compassionate and globally-minded learners.
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS
Expanding horizons
A global community of opportunities
Central Coast Grammar School is proud to be a Round Square Candidate School, embarking on a formal pathway to join a global network dedicated to developing well-rounded, globally-minded young people. This partnership strengthens our commitment to learning through action and experience, inspiring students to engage with the world through leadership, service, challenge and international understanding.
Students benefit from our unique, long-standing relationships with schools and communities in China, Japan, the USA, Canada, Cambodia, Wales, Ireland, France and Germany. These deep, community-wide programs create opportunities to travel, host and form friendships that last a lifetime.
Reciprocal Exchange Program
Our Year 10 Reciprocal Exchange Program is one of the most distinctive opportunities at Grammar. Students live with a partner family overseas, attend school abroad, and then welcome their exchange partner into their own home and school community.
This year-long program builds:- Personal growth and independence, easing the transition to post-school life
- Resilience to overcome challenges without familiar networks
- An enhanced understanding of diverse cultures and community perspectives
- Flexibility to adapt to new learning styles and subjects
- Positive intercultural relationships that last for years
We provide our students with genuinely transformative experiences. Unlike commercial tours, our exchange is grounded in a network of authentic relationships nurtured over decades by our Coordinator of International Programs.
Cambodia Service Program
In Year 11, students can participate in a year-long journey of awareness, fundraising and action. Students raise funds to build houses with Volunteer Building Cambodia, before travelling to remote villages to construct them alongside local families.
This program teaches gratitude, compassion and global responsibility. It also builds strong ties: for more than a decade, students and teachers from Sunrise Cambodia have also travelled to Australia to study at our School and live with our families, making this truly a two-way relationship.
The Cambodia Service Program is a hallmark of our global citizenship ethos, empowering Year 11 students to step outside their comfort zones, serve others in tangible ways, and return home with skills and perspectives that shape their lives beyond school.
International tours
Students also enjoy a wide range of international tours connected to sport, performing arts, outdoor education, science and cultural studies. Recent destinations include France, Japan, China, Hawaii, Singapore, England, New Zealand and the USA.
Highlights include:
- Sporting tours: rugby, hockey, basketball and netball teams compete internationally, then host visiting teams, building global friendships.
- Performing Arts tours: students travel to the UK for dance and musical theatre workshops at world-renowned studios, enriching the creative culture of our School.
- Science and Outdoor Education tours: bringing learning to life in new and exciting settings.
Learning from each other
Our international outlook is not limited to students. Teacher exchanges also bring fresh ideas into our classrooms, strengthening our learning community with global perspectives.
Meanwhile, the presence of international students enriches daily life for everyone, creating cultural diversity that enhances the experience of learning and living together.
Skills for life
Through exchanges, tours and service programs, our students return with resilience, adaptability and a deep appreciation of cultural differences. These experiences give them the confidence to thrive in a connected world and turn opportunity into reality.
