YEARS 7 TO 9
Welcome from the
Head of Middle School
Years 7 to 9 are a time of energy, discovery and rapid growth. As our students begin their senior school journey, we provide the guidance, encouragement and opportunities they need to flourish.
We know the transition from Junior to Middle School is significant. Our dedicated staff, strong pastoral care and supportive structures ensure that students feel safe, connected and ready to embrace new challenges.
These years are about finding balance, nurturing curiosity, building character and equipping students with the resilience and confidence to step into the next phase of their education.

extending THEIR abilities
Personalised
learning
Middle School is a time for students to discover their strengths, passions and potential.
Our personalised approach ensures learning is tailored to challenge thinking, spark curiosity and foster collaboration.
An engaging curriculum combining core and elective subjects, allows students to explore their interests and extend their abilities. Lessons encourage critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and innovative approaches to real-world challenges.
Individualised support helps every student feel capable, confident and ready to succeed. Through goal-setting, reflection and feedback, students take ownership of their learning, building independence, resilience and self-belief.
In middle school, students are empowered to explore ideas, develop their skills and prepare for the challenges and opportunities of Senior School, laying the foundation for lifelong learning and achievement.
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Reaching their potential
We set high expectations and take the time to understand each student, identifying their strengths, interests and areas for growth.
In middle school, this means encouraging a strong work ethic, helping students develop effective study habits, and supporting them as they strive to reach their potential. Persistence, effort and progress are valued as much as achievement.
By combining academic rigour with guidance and encouragement, we prepare students for the increasing demands of Senior College while building confidence, resilience and pride in their learning journey.

CURRICULUM

The Middle School curriculum offers depth and breadth. Students build on strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, while broadening their experience with subjects such as Science, Technology, languages, humanities, Art and Sport.
Years 7 and 8 provide a broad foundation, allowing students to sample different areas and discover their passions. Year 9 brings a deeper level of choice, with electives tailored to individual interests and strengths.

DEVELOPING EMOTIONAL STRENGTH
Wellbeing in
middle school
Our wellbeing program provides a supportive framework that helps students feel connected, cared for and confident as they navigate these formative years.
Students belong to House Families, where peer mentoring, pastoral care and regular gatherings foster a sense of belonging and positive relationships. Through these connections, students develop resilience, empathy and the emotional skills to manage challenges with confidence.
Leadership begins to take on new meaning in middle school. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their choices, lead by example and contribute actively to their community. Service activities and co-curricular leadership help students grow integrity, courage and a sense of agency.
House Coordinators guide students individually, supporting personal growth, academic progress and overall wellbeing, ensuring every student is empowered to thrive.

opportunities to grow
Beyond the classroom
Middle School is alive with opportunities beyond the classroom. From competitive sport and ensemble music to drama, dance, debating and public speaking, outdoor education, robotics and service learning, students are encouraged to explore their passions and broaden their horizons.
These experiences help young people develop teamwork, creativity and global awareness, while also nurturing empathy, integrity and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Along the way, they build confidence, form meaningful friendships and create memories that last a lifetime, shaping the kind of character that empowers them to thrive in a complex and connected world.
