Junior School
Years 3 to 6
Developing the skills, friendships and character to thrive.
YEARS 3 to 6
Welcome from the
Head of Junior School
The upper junior years are an exciting stage in every child’s journey. From Year 3 to Year 6, our students grow rapidly in independence and confidence, building the skills and friendships that will carry them into senior school.
We see these years as a time for discovery. It is a chance for children to take on new challenges, show leadership, and explore the wide range of opportunities available to them. Our role is to guide and support them, while encouraging curiosity, resilience and a strong sense of belonging.
By the end of Year 6, our students are well-prepared for the next chapter. They step forward with confidence, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of senior school.

REALISE THEIR POTENTIAL
Personalised
learning
Every learner is unique, and in Years 3 to 6 we continue to personalise education to meet the individual strengths, interests and aspirations of each student.
Students are challenged and inspired to think critically, solve problems and explore subjects in greater depth, developing the confidence to take intellectual risks and embrace new ideas. Lessons are flexible and adaptive, designed to spark curiosity, build resilience, and meet students where they are, allowing each child to progress at their own pace.
Tailored support ensures every student feels capable, motivated and ready to succeed. By fostering independence, self-reflection and a love of learning, we empower students to take ownership of their growth and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Reaching their
potential in Junior School
We set clear expectations for effort and achievement, then provide the guidance and resources to meet them. In these years, students consolidate strong literacy and numeracy while stretching into richer, more complex learning.
Excellence here is about mindset as much as marks. We encourage pride in progress, persistence when challenged and the confidence to aim high as next generation learners.

Years 3 to 6 curriculum
Shaping confident thinkers
The Years 3 to 6 curriculum combines rigour with opportunity. Literacy and numeracy remain central, while specialist lessons in Science, Technology, Languages, Music, Sport and the Arts broaden horizons.
Inquiry-based projects encourage teamwork, creativity and real-life connections, preparing students with adaptability, digital fluency and global awareness. This is complemented with structured and direct instruction for building of skill development.
Literacy and Numeracy

Through rich inquiry projects, students examine people, places and cultures across time. From Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage to global perspectives, students broaden their world view and sense of identity.

Learning across the curriculum
Themes bring learning to life across disciplines. For example, a focus on cultural identity may include writing tasks, history projects, artworks, science explorations and performances, to connect skills and knowledge in meaningful ways.
DEVELOPING EMOTIONAL STRENGTH
Wellbeing in
Junior School
Our wellbeing program supports students to develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of identity as they navigate these formative years.
Students belong to a House Family, where older students mentor younger ones and every child is known and valued. Weekly House gatherings, interschool sport, performing arts, debating, community service and outdoor education camps help students build connection, teamwork and leadership.
Through structured programs, students develop essential qualities for success: confidence, organisation, collaboration, persistence and resiliencewhile targeted small group programs provide extra support when needed.
Leadership opportunities in House roles, peer mentoring and service projects empower students to lead with kindness, courage and integrity, encouraging them to take responsibility and make a positive impact on their school and community.
