You can sit with me

“You can sit with me” - five little words that have the power to make a huge difference in a young person’s life.

They underpin a new Junior School Student Representative Council wellbeing initiative focusing on kindness and inclusivity. Students from Years 3 to 6 were excited to hear first-hand from You Can Sit With Me founder and ambassador Sophie Whitehouse when she visited the school to spread the message about how wearing a simple yellow wristband can change a life.

The program, led by class captains, encourages ‘You Can Sit with Me’ ambassadors to wear the highly visible wristband during recess and lunch as a visual reminder that anyone is welcome to sit and play with them. The initiative promotes respect and awareness and is designed to empower students to be inclusive of others, developing empathy and compassion within our school community.
